Travel anywhere, look anywhere, and you will observe that there are obviously well past a thousand skincare brands in the market currently. There are so many options, picking the right skin care products may be a bit impossible. I am going to assist you to narrow down the list by applying a basic filter of what may be important in choosing skincare products. I can remove most of the brands by checking that the products are created by a brand that is; independently owned, are free of toxins, and are cruelty free. These are key values that we all have in common and everyone supports from a business.Independently owned brands are brands that haven’t received any investment money in exchange for a percentage of ownership of the company. These companys are commonly called Indie brands. There are numerous Indie brands around the market that run on a limited basis due to their smaller size. Plus there are a few Indie brands which are leading the movement and have succeeded into a national existence. There are also one or two Indie brands that are pursuing the prize of becoming globally-traded. One such leader in the Indie space is Russell Organics. They are selling across every beauty channel from mass beauty to prestige. Russell Organics is also internationally traded, with a publicly stated goal of becoming the first globally traded Indie brand. When choosing an Indie brand be cautious of hidden external investors. We have checked, and almost every one of the bigger so-called Indie brands have received external investors.
The next criteria for choosing a great skincare brand is it being toxin free. What does this truly mean? There are thousands of chemicals, botanical ingredients, waxes, and extracts used to create products. Many of these ingredients may be synthetic toxins that have been shown to be harmful to people and to the environment. Russell Organics is heading the Clean Beauty trend by not using toxic ingredients and by completely listing every ingredient in every product. Check on your own. Check the labels. Do you see ingredients listed as fragrance? Did you know that parfum may contain over 700 chemicals and you would never realize which ones? Talk about a dangerous situation. Did you ever walk into a room and smell a parfum and immediately have itcy eyes and begin to sneeze? Those are the harmful chemicals that may be also be lurking in your skincare products. A great resource to investigate on ingredients is Environmental Working Group which has created a large compilation of ingredients and highlighted their level of toxicity.
The last criteria is the company being cruelty-free. What does cruelty-free mean? There is a lot of confusion about the phrase. Let’s begin by clarifying that to be cruelty free skin care free, the product is required to be a vegan brand. That requires no animal derived ingredients like milk, honey, beeswax are never used in any product. That removes at least 80 percent of the brands in the market. The other issue for being cruelty-free is having not tested products on animals. All of the global mass skin care brands have conducted testing on animals. This chasing of profits at the expense of killing animals is not excusable and should not be supported by using their products.
In closing, these basic key filters will help you to reduce down the list of choices to those brands that are deserving of your support. From there it should be a simple process of selecting the right skin care product for your skin type.
