Search any where, look anywhere, and one will see that there are literally well over a thousand skincare brands on the market currently. There are so many choices, picking the appropriate skin care products may be a little overwhelming. I am going to help you to narrow down the list by applying a basic filter of what might be critical in selecting skin care products. I can eliminate most of the brands with checking that the products are from a brand that is; owned independently, are toxin-free, and are cruelty free. These are key values that we all share and we all support from a business.Independently-owned brands are brands that haven’t taken any external money in exchange for a perecent of ownership of the company. These companys are usually called Indie brands. There are numerous Indie brands across the nation that exist on a small basis due to their smaller size. Plus there are a few Indie brands that are leading the action and have scaled up into a national existence. There are additionally one or two Indie brands that are pursuing the prize of being globally-traded. One such leader in the Indie vertical is Russell Organics. The brand is expanding across every beauty channel from mass beauty to prestige. Russell Organics is also internationally distributed, with a publicly stated target of becoming the only globally traded Indie brand. If choosing an Indie brand beware of not disclosed external investors. We have researched this, and nearly every one of the larger so-called Indie brands has received outside investors.
The next filter for choosing a good skin care brand is it being toxin free. What does this actually mean? There are thousands of synthetic ingredients, botanicals, waxes, and extracts used to formulate products. A large percent of these ingredients are synthetic chemicals which have been proven to be toxic to humans and to the environment. Russell Organics is leading the Clean Beauty trend by never using toxic ingredients and by fully disclosing every ingredient in every product. Search for yourself. Check the labels. Do you notice ingredients listed as fragrance? Did you know that fragrance can contain over 800 chemicals and you wouldn not ever know which ones? Talk about a scary scenario. Have you ever enter into a space and smell a fragrance and immediately have water eyes and begin to sneeze? Those are the harmful chemicals that can also be lurking in your skin care products. A fabulous resource to check on ingredients is Environmental Working Group which has made a deep compilation of ingredients and highlighted their toxicity.
The final filter is the brand being cruelty-free. What does cruelty free really mean? There is common confusion about the term. Let us begin by identifying that to be cruelty free, the product must be a vegan product. That means no animal derived ingredients such as milk, honey, beeswax are never added in any product. That removes at least 80 percent of the brands in the market. The other issue for being cruelty free is having never tested products on animals. All of the global mass cosmetic brands have conducted testing on animals. This chasing of profits at the expense of killing animals is inexcusable and should not be supported by purchasing their products.
In closing, these basic key filters will help you to narrow down the list of selections to those brands that are worthy of your support. From there it will be a simple process of selecting the right skincare product for your complexion.
