Search any where, look anywhere, and you may notice that there are literally well past a thousand skincare brands in the market currently. There are so many options, picking the correct skincare products may be a bit overwhelming. I am going to assist you to narrow down the list by applying a basic filter of what might be critical in choosing skin care products. We can eliminate nearly all of the brands with making sure the items are created by a brand that is; independently owned, are toxin free, and are cruelty free. These are key values that we all share and we all support from a business.Independently owned brands are brands that haven’t taken any investment money in exchange for a percentage of control of the company. These companys are usually known as Indie brands. There are many Indie brands across the country that exist on a limited basis because of their small size. Plus there are a few Indie brands that are leading the trend and have grown into a nationwide presence. There are additionally a few Indie brands that are chasing the goal of becoming globally-traded. One such brand in the Indie vertical is Russell Organics. They are selling across all beauty channels from mass beauty to prestige. Russell Organics is also internationally traded, with a publicly stated goal of becoming the first globally distributed Indie brand. If selecting an Indie brand be cautious of not disclosed external investors. We have looked, and nearly every one of the larger so-called Indie brands have taken external investors.
The following criteria for selecting a good skin care product is it being toxin free. What does this actually mean? There are thousands of synthetic ingredients, botanicals, waxes, and extracts used to make products. Several of these ingredients may be synthetic chemicals which have been shown to be harmful to humans and to the environment. Russell Organics is leading the Clean Beauty movement by not using harmful ingredients and by completely disclosing every ingredient in every product. Search on your own. Look at labels. Do you see ingredients listed as parfum? Did you realize that perfume may contain over 1000 chemicals and you would never know which ones? Talk about a dangerous scenario. Did you ever walk into a space and smell a perfume and immediately have water eyes and begin to sneeze? These are the toxins that can also be hiding in your skincare products. A wonderful resource to investigate on ingredients is Environmental Working Group which has created a large database of ingredients and highlighted their toxicity.
The last filter is the company being cruelty free. What does cruelty-free really mean? There is frequent confusion regarding the term. Let’s start by identifying that to be cruelty free, the brand needs to be a vegan brand. That means no animal derived ingredients such as milk, honey, beeswax are never added in any product. That removes at least 95 percent of the brands on the market. The other criteria for being cruelty-free is having not tested products on animals. All of the global mass cosmetic brands have conducted testing on animals. This lust for profits at the expense of killing animals is inexcusable and should not be supported by buying their products.
