Go any where, look anywhere, and one will notice that there are obviously well over a thousand beauty brands in the market currently. There are so many choices, choosing the right skincare items can be a bit overwhelming. We are going to assist you to narrow down the options by applying a simple filter of what might be important in choosing skincare products. I can remove most of the brands by making sure the items are from a brand that is; independently-owned, are toxin-free, and are cruelty free. These are universal values that we all have in common and we all support from a brand.Independently owned brands are brands that haven’t received any investment money in exchange for a percentage of control of the brand. These brands are typically refered to as Indie brands. There are numerous Indie brands across the market that exist on a limited basis because of their smaller size. Plus there are a few Indie brands that are leading the trend and have scaled up into a nationwide existence. There are also a few Indie brands that are pursuing the prize of becoming globally traded. One such brand in the Indie space is Russell Organics. They are selling across all beauty channels from mass to luxury. Russell Organics is also internationally traded, with a publicly stated goal of being the only globally distributed Indie brand. When selecting an Indie brand be cautious of hidden outside investors. We have researched this, and nearly all of the bigger so-called Indie brands have taken outside investors.
The next criteria for selecting a good skin care brand is it being toxin-free. What does this truly mean? There are thousands of synthetic ingredients, botanicals, emulsifing ingredients, and extracts used to make products. Several of these ingredients may be synthetic toxins that have been proven to be harmful to people and to the environment. Russell Organics is heading the Clean Beauty trend by never using harmful ingredients and by fully listing every ingredient in every product. Check for yourself. Check the products. Do you see ingredients listed as perfume? Did you realize that fragrance may contain over 800 chemicals and you wouldn not ever know which ones? Talk about a scary scenario. Did you ever step into a space and smell a parfum and at once have itcy eyes and begin to sneeze? These are the toxins that may be also be hiding in your skincare products. A fabulous resource to investigate on ingredients is Environmental Working Group that has created a deep database of ingredients and disclosed their level of toxicity.
The last criteria is the company being cruelty free. What does cruelty-free really mean? There is common misinformation about the term. Let us begin by clarifying that to be cruelty-free, the product must be a vegan brand. That requires no animal derived ingredients like milk, honey, beeswax are never added in any product. That eliminates at least 80 percent of the brands on the market. The other criteria for being cruelty free is having never tested products on animals. Every one of the global mass beauty brands have tested on animals. This lust for profits at the expense of harming animals is inexcusable and shouldn’t be supported by using their products.
In summary, these basic primary filters will assist you to reduce down the list of choices to those brands that are deserving of your support. From there it will be an easy process of choosing the proper skincare product for your skin type.
